Bandari Maritime Academy signs Partnership Agreement with PMAESA

The PMAESA Secretariat under the leadership of Secretary General Col. Andre Ciseau formalized a partnership agreement (MOU) with the Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) at the BMA Headquarters in Mombasa on Monday 20 January 2025.

This collaboration aims to strengthen Maritime education and training while fostering areas of mutual benefit for both organizations.

Dr Eric Lewa Katana, CEO of the Mombasa based maritime training institution, emphasized that the partnership marks a milestone in the Academy’s journey toward advancing Maritime training and creating opportunities for cadets and students.

On his part, Col. Ciseau highlighted the importance of such collaborations in building capacity within the Maritime and port sectors of the region.

He expressed PMAESA’s commitment to supporting BMA in delivering world-class Maritime education and fostering regional integration within the blue economy.

The ceremony was overseen by key officials from both organizations. Representing BMA were: Deputy Director, Corporate Services Evans Oyeiyo, Head of Legal and Corporate Secretary Said Gongo, Academic Registrar Dr. Irene Mugo, Senior Principal Trainer, Nautical Science Maj. (Rtd) Franklin Toniok, Legal Officer Loy Lisa, Partnership & Resource Mobilization Officer, Fatma Mzee.

PMAESA was represented by: Administration Officer Hilda Gichunge, Finance Officer Rozina Mwandawiro, Economist & Projects officer Ruth Muigai and Communication officer George Sunguh.

This partnership underscores BMA’s commitment to positioning itself as a leading center of excellence in Maritime and Blue Economy education and training.

Through this MOU, the Academy aims to leverage PMAESA’s network and expertise to enhance its training programs and ensure its graduates are well-equipped to meet the demands of the global Maritime industry.

Col. Ciseau took this opportunity to present to Dr Katana the PMAESA Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028 as well as the PMAESA @ 50 Handbook.
